"LIFESTYLE FATIGUE"

First it was "quite quitting" now it's "lifestyle fatigue". A phrase Huff Post just talked about. Lifestyle fatigue can be summed up as "feeling stuck in a rut". Which honestly, I think who hasn't at some point been stuck in a rut?

I am on the cusp of Gen X and Millennials. I identify more with Millennial but I have a few Gen X characteristics. I think the later years of Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z want instant gratification. We work hard but then we want it, we want to see the rewards. When we can't see it we get burned out. We don't know how to live in balance or alignment we are the generations of all or nothing. The generations of being on the go and glorifying busyness to an extreme.

Although, we are the generations that believe in the woowoo and will prioritize our "self-care" there is still something missing. We are still stuck in that rut. We are Emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally exhausted.

We are the generations of social media which makes us inundated with seeing everyone's highlight reels. Comparison is the thief of all joy, right?!. We need to remember that we're seeing everyone’s best days on social media. Others aren’t posting about their bad moments or restless nights, or the tantrums, fights, house in chaos moments.

So how can we live more in alignment and fight off "lifestyle fatigue"?

Ways we can help from feeling this "lifestyle fatigue":

  1. Exercise

  2. Hang out with friends. Pick a weekly or monthly meet up spot.

  3. Meditate

  4. Pick up a hobby. Learn a new language.

  5. Turn off social media. Stay off Facebook, Instagram, TikTok

  6. Read light hearted fun novels or something inspiring

  7. Watch a comedy

  8. Play board games, video games, go outside and play with the kids

  9. Prioritize your sleep

  10. Set and enforce boundaries at work with co-workers/boss and at home with family, spouses, kids, etc.

  11. Ask for help if you feel overwhelmed, tired, and or run down.

  12. Take up walking

  13. If you're a parent of little ones. Get alone time.

  14. Start baking

  15. Take up painting.

  16. Play music. I have Spotify play lists to boost mood.

  17. Maybe you need to take a good look at your life and see if you need a new job/career or maybe in another area of your life you need a change.

  18. If you can't find joy in anything you might need to reach out to your doctor or a therapist

Maybe one solution to lifestyle fatigue, is as simple as changing your day and routine up.

Any change in your daily routine, such as waking up earlier, going to bed earlier, contacting an old friend, or going to a concert or out for coffee, book a weekend trip somewhere will maybe can work. Look for new activities that disrupt monotony or predictability. It doesn’t matter how big or small.

Change it up because, change is a powerful.
